Weekend in Review Pt 1

Monday, July 2

I know I said in this post that I will reveal what I have been working on, on sunday, but I can't do that. The project is unfinished. I was too busy having fun.

This weekend has been quite an interesting one for me. First, my friend from Portsmouth came to spend the weekend with me, then we got to hang out with Claire on Saturday, and then on Sunday, we met up with some cool chicas, ate some cake ( LOADS), and downed some cocktails. Details of sunday's meet-up will be in part two of my weekend review.  Sadly, all good things come to an end, and my friend has returned to Portsmouth, and once again, I'm back to living my life through your blogs....yes I know, I am a stalker.....I'm getting help from the NHS, so fear not, I will not be doing anything drastic soon.

Here is a pictorial of my day with Claire. We met at Goldhawk Road tube station......

.......and wasted no time ..... fabric shopping anyone?

I am now sporting an afro. I am trying to grow my natural hair so I shall have it free of weaves and all sorts of fakery throughout summer.

I don't know why I had this expression on my face.

We came across a group of women fabric shopping as well, and it turns out they all met through a website called Meetup. I had never heard of this site before, so yes, you do learn something new everyday. Basically, Meetup provides an opportunity for you to meetup with other people who share your interests, whatever that interest may be, and yes, that includes a French Bulldog Group. Marijke was kind enough to pose with us. She blogs over at mybusycraftlife.

Then we saw this yummy vintage fabric in Classic Textiles. It comes in 2 colour ways. Rumour has it ( well the lady selling says its true), that one woman bought this fabric, and made a dress based on one of the dresses on the pattern. I did not invent that story, seriously.

Look people, The Vesbar, has changed hands, and is now called The Vandella. The Vesbar was the hangout of choice of savvy fabric shoppers. This is where fabric purchases were oohed and ahhed over at Karen's Goldhawk Road Fabric Fandango last year.

 I loved Claire's pendant.

Fabric wise, Claire gifted me these jersey beauties. They are sooooooooooooooo soft...thanks again Claire.

I bought this chartreuse cotton satin fabric to make a top.

Phew!!!!

That was a long one.

Have a nice week everyone.

  7. Aw, your weekend sounds fab Dibs. I've got some of that vintage ladies fabric already and love it. I bet it's cheaper to buy in the Goldhawk Road though. Funnily enough I'm paying a flying visit there tomorrow, will definitely have to poke my head into Classic Textiles. thanks for the tip! x

  13. Hi! It was lovely to meet you on Saturday :) I finally finished my blogpost about it also, but can you believe we actually forgot to take pics while in the shop? On the other hand, getting 15 people to stay together and not go crazy amongst all those fabrics can be tricky... Had a great time though and always happy to meet other bloggers :) Maybe see you at another meetup event?
