The fabric is a really cheap polyester , and it frays like its life depended on it. The fit seems to be ok, but I need to chop off a couple of inches at the hem.
The back looks a bit dodgy. I think I need to use smaller seam allowances at the back, and also put in some shoulder darts because it feels big there.
So far I am loving the pattern. I really love how simple it is to sew, and how elegant it looks. I have a liberty silk fabric I bought at Classics Fabric on Goldhawk road for £6/metre, which I intend to use to make this dress. But first things first, get the fit right Dibs.
I like what I am seeing so far. you are doing well with the sewing girl. keep it up
ReplyDeleteAHHHHHHHH!!!!! This looks amazing on you! Love these colors! It's just so elegant and perfect!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely muslin!!!
ReplyDeleteWow - that's really lovely looking fabric for a muslin! The colour really suits you.
ReplyDeleteAnd this is just a muslin?! Love the colour and this style really suits you. I think most people have had to put in shoulder darts or adjust something in that area. I can't wait to see it in Liberty silk.
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous! I took 1.5" out of the top centre back tapering to nothing as recommended by Karen and Lizzy in their reviews. It fit fine in that area after that! I also had to lengthen the bodice above the dart / tuck things other than that it was quite easy to fit - standard adjustments for me and the bewbs!!
ReplyDeleteThe colour is amazing on you, I hope you can make it work and the liberty silk sounds divine!
So pretty!! And wait, you have liberty silk that you got for £6????? Seriously? That is awesome!
ReplyDeleteOoo definitely worth getting the fit right on this one...this colour is a stunner on you!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like its going to be a wearable garment Dibs, that colour is just amazing on you.
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing already. I also want to get this Anna dress pattern everyone is talking about now. Can't wait to see the liberty silk version!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabric, unbelievably bargainess price!
ReplyDeleteThe front is really flattering on you, the neckline really frames your face. A bit extra width in the back would help get rid of those wrinkles and stop the zipper tape from being exposed but not too much work and it will fit great. Hope you make this one work because muslin or not it's a great colour on you
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your finished version. About the back, I'm agree with Kristy, if you add some extra in the seams allowance, you get ride of the wrinkles.Otherwise, the dress is reaaly great on you.
ReplyDeleteI had this pattern and seeing your version motivated me to try it.I began to trace it on monday evening and i finished it yesterday in the evening (I was in holiday and spent all of it sewing). I made the v-neck version and made some modifications :
-I took 2 cm out of the top center back and 3 cm at the bottom center back.
- I took 3 cm out of the top skirt centre back.
- I chopped of the skirt by 10 cm.
-I didn't hand sew the split.I just sew it with the machine.
-As my neckline stretched, i had to make two little pleats.
Thank you for make me want to sew this dress :)
