I have so many things to be grateful for this week..loads actually. What I intend to do, is to name 1 or two things that I am grateful for everyday of this week, and then follow it with Debi's plan. Debi wants us to :
- Host a giveaway: post by Monday, February 6th
- Create a tutorials or offer up a pattern: post by Tuesday, February 7th
- Write a reflection post (on what your 'sew grateful' for): post by Wednesday, February 8th
- Finish a sewing project: post by Saturday, February 11th
So, today, I am so grateful for the online sewing community. I have met so many nice people since I started blogging about my sewing projects, and I have come to know many others in distant places, whom I would never have e-met if not for our common hobby.
When I started falling sick because of The Bump, I got a lot of support from my sewing friends. Marie, from A Sewing Odyssey went one step further, and sent me this gorgeous fabric through the post to cheer me up. What touched me about this gesture, was the fact that she had, through my sewing projects, realised that I loved bold and bright prints. I absolutely love this fabric. How thoughtful and sweet is that?
This is not the first time I have received something from someone I met through sewing. Rachel (House of Pinheiro) also gifted me with this lovely fabric when we met last year after my surgery. Rachel and I have become really good friends through our mutual love for sewing and blogging, and have found out we have alot more in common than just sewing.
So, I'm giving away 2 metres of this cotton lobster print.

Below is a picture of a dress Adrienne made using this fabric. Pretty right?

Wow, I LOVE those lobsters! Thanks for the giveaway! I'm really grateful that I have a job in a time of great unemployment, and that my job keeps me busy and challenged!
ReplyDeleteHi Dibs! Just found your blog: really lovely!
ReplyDeleteThat's a fantastic fabric :D
My blog:

I love that fabric, it would be a great summer dress. I'm grateful for living near my friends.
ReplyDeleteHi There! I'm grateful for my husband who bought me my sewing machine and supports/helps me with all my projects. LOVE that print. And lobsters? I want to wear that print while eating lobsters! :D
ReplyDeleteOh Dibs, I am so grateful for loads of things actually, & will restrict myself to sewing related thoughts. I'm grateful for the wonderful online sewing community who are filled with gorgeous, funny, inspiring & generous people, some of whom I'd even describe as friends. How wonderful is that? And you Dibs are one of those lovely ladies.
ReplyDeleteI am sew grateful for my supportive husband! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteAaaw, thanks for the mention Dibs! I won't enter this wonderful giveaway of yours, for you kindly bought and sent me that very same fabric...which I am hugely grateful for ;o)
ReplyDeleteOOh, I am so grateful for the fabulous sewing blogs out there that give us all great inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI have been so grateful for people who reach out to me, like yourself and Rachel. It's hard starting a new life in a new country and it really helps when people take you in and befriend you.
ReplyDeleteHope you're doing well. If you need a visitor to entertain you (although, I can't juggle) let me know!
I do not know if you are doing this UK only, but if it's to the US too, I would love to be entered for it. I was like whatEVER would I do with lobster fabric? Then I saw Adrienne's dress and said OH lots of stuff!
ReplyDeleteI am grateful for all the people who work so hard to keep posting to their sewing blogs. I've only been sewing for a year or so, and I had gotten discouraged, so I scoured the few blogs I had bookmarked, wandered through their favorite blogs, then THOSE people's favorite blogs, and now I have a good number of place I can turn to for inspiration and entertaining posts about the drama of sewing. I've managed to finish two UFO's and complete a good chunk of a coat this week after taking a month long break from sewing, now that I've gotten my inspiration back from other enthusiastic sewers.
Lobster fabric? That's like all my crazy novelty print dreams come true. I don't know if your shipping overseas but if you are I'd love to enter. I'm grateful for all my lovely blogging friends. They are always so supportive and willing to help when I'm stuck on something sewing related.
ReplyDeleteOh my lord, I have been lusting after that fabric for months! Please, please include me in the giveaway and thank you for spreading the Debi Sew Grateful love!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you are posting overseas - But I'm grateful for my husband and kids, they put up with me being crazy and understand all my stupid jokes, lol!
ReplyDeleteI am incredibly grateful that I have people in my life that support me no matter how bone-headed the decision.

Oh wow, that fabric! Lobsters! Love it!,,
ReplyDeleteRight at the moment, I'm grateful for my gorgeous cat who is sitting next to me looking adorable. Coz cats are awesome.
Dibs!!! Wowzers!!! The most coveted fabric on Earth??? Probably! Wow, you really must love the sewing community to give that away. And who could blame you? :)
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to win it and if I did I would probably not even bother trying to come up with a creative use for it but would shamelessly rip off, I mean, pay homage to Adrienne's dress.
I am grateful for so many things. I'm going through a difficult time at the moment but can never feel blue for too long as there are so many things to cheer me up - looking at pretty things that sewing bloggers have made, my dear friends, physical health, a lovely place to live, looking to the future, my enjoyment of yummy food, the pretty snow outside... I could go on, but then I might start sounding like a loon...
Oh Dibs - what a fantastic giveaway! As Tilly said - I think everyone has been wanting to get their hands on that fabric for a long time!
ReplyDeleteAt the moment I'm so so grateful for the Sun that is starting to rise a bit earlier and set a bit later....I have missed it!!! But if that's a bit of a random one, I'm also very grateful to have such a lovely boyfriend who, for some reason, puts up with me!!!
Oh wow. Look at that fabric! I'm grateful for the online sewing community. Couldn't do it without you!
ReplyDeleteOMG! Lobster fabric- how perfect! I'm grateful for the Internet! So much inspiration out there and so many like minded people!
ReplyDeleteMy email is carlandrach@optusnet.com.au
I'm so grateful for two healthy and (mostly) happy children, one dog, one cat and a wonderful husband, who puts up with us all. The lobster fabric is wonderful. I can just imagine it as toddler dresses and dungarees! I'm on Ravelry as MrsAlex
ReplyDeleteWow, I just love this lobsters fabric ! And Adrienne's dress is a perfect use of it, I think. Do you ship to France ? Anyway, I am really grateful for having a (mostly)healthy baby, and for my husband's and family's support (because being a new mother is not always as easy as one would think).
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love seafood (lobster oh yes!) so this fabric is just calling out-I've yet to run across anything like it. I'm grateful to my partner. He not only tolerates my non-meat/mushrooms diet but he also believes in me enough to buy me a sewing machine for a hobby that sometimes excludes him from his own room and has led to frustrating conversations (for him) whereupon I badger him to help me improve a garment's fit!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the lobster fabric!
ReplyDeleteI´m grateful for so many lovely blogs with plenty of sewing tips and inspiration :)
What a fun fabric print! this would make an amazing dress :]
ReplyDeleteI'm grateful for life - my brother was just in an accident two weeks ago, and though he's still in the hospital (and will be for a while more), he still alive and we'll get to bring him home again <3
Beautiful fabric, I would use it to sew some items for my son who is currently into animals.
ReplyDeleteI am grateful for the love of a good husband and an awesome and funny boy who makes so happy.

You don't know how much I want to make a skirt out of that fabric!
ReplyDeleteI'm grateful that although my job is very dull, I have a great group of colleagues who make my day enjoyable!
x
I've been humming an hawing over this. I LOVE the fabric with hearts, sprinkles and cherries but couldn't decide (if I was ever that lucky to win it) what I'd make but after some deliberation I've come up with an answer! It would have to be the most insane pencil skirt in the whole wide world which I would then wear to death on holiday and any other time I could possibly get away with it! Either the godet skirt or the Jenny, both on Burda.
ReplyDeleteI am grateful for so many things, sewing and non-sewing. At this precise second, its my 2 year old boy who just presented me with his overalls and asked to go dig outside (Husband is putting shingle on the drive)!
Does that lobster fabric make me long for the summer!!! Especially now when everybody in my country is on skates, almost mummified in ski clothing. Count me in this give away...

I am grateful for every day I wake up and view the beautiful sky on my way to work. The dawn is a beautiful thing!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to be entered as well, if you are including folks in the U.S. I am thankful for my husband and daughter and that we get to spend so much time together. I love watching her grow up and watching him be an awesome dad. Thanks for hosting- my dad has sold lobster since I was a kid, so it's relevant camp :) I'm @ farmhousegardenblogdothotmaildotcom.

ReplyDeleteThe fabric is SO fantastic!!! I envision and little bombshell dress with red piping and some killer heels. Thanks for offering it as a giveaway!
I'm grateful that all my work colleagues turn a blind eye when I lot on to sewing blogs - and when my fabric and patterns and notions are delivered - despite the fact that I can't sew because I've done my back in. I completely adored the lobster dress when Adrienne posted it and have been lusting after that print ever since. If I won it, I'd PROMISE to do my boring physio exercises and get fit enough to sit over a machine again. Promise!
ReplyDeleteDibs, that fabric is just TOO cool, I would love to win it! I'm grateful for very many things, but chief among them is the love and support of my boyfriend - he gives me time and space to sew, for one thing!

ReplyDeleteI love that fabric! I'm grateful for my family - they fill me with such joy, and even better, support my obsessiveness about sewing!!
ReplyDeleteI am incredibly grateful for so many things. Mostly for having fabulous and supportive people who love me more than chocolate!
ReplyDeleteRight now my husband is my constant source of gratitude. He's so loving and supportive. He'll cook dinner when I've had a rough day so that I can sew. He'll listen to all of the stories I pick up from the online sewing community. He'll take photos of my in my newly created garments so that I can show them off to all of you. ReplyDeleteI am grateful to Debi for instigating this incredible week of getting to know one another better and discovering new blogs and new ideas!

I'm grateful for--and while this is obviously trumped by other, bigger-ticket stuff--the fact that the blogworld exists, and I can come online while insomiacking at 5 AM to be cheered up by awesome lobster fabric.
ReplyDeleteI'm grateful that I've discovered this lovely corner of the internet - so many talented and interesting people to share some time with. I'm also grateful that I spent a lovely day today with a dear friend making a bag for her sister's birthday - we chatted and sewed and drank cups of tea. A restorative day.
